For so long I thought the scale was the end all be all for progress in my health journey and although it can gauge how you and gravity relate and is a factor in your understanding of things it is not the only way to see if you are progressing.
Look at this memory of mine I found on FB today:
one year apart I dropped 10 minutes off of my pace. That’s the type of results that I like to call “life gain”. It’s being capable of doing things you couldn’t do before. I celebrate these things with living room dance parties, calls to my sisters, and high fives to anyone who’s around. I understand it is so tempting to put all of your success on the scale and when I started my health journey I did focus a lot on the scale, but it isn’t the whole picture. Measurements and pictures tell a big part of the story as well. Not to mention weight lifting and muscle gain, knowing I can carry heavy things and not get as winded. These are all real life important markers to look out for and celebrate. The fact is if you had a ten inch smaller waist but weighed the same would you think you were a failure? Likely not. So please no matter if you started today or a year ago, please take pictures, and measurements of yourself (you don’t have to share them with anyone). It tells WAY MORE of the story then a number on the scale.
I hope this helped!
All my love,
Stephanie
