Are you a Competitive Cleaner?

So I’m extremely competitive and because of this I like to do things in a competition style so I know I’ll do my best. Since I’ve lost my day job I’ve realized how much housework I’ve wanted to get done or just keep up with.

What sparked this post was actually a post on Facebook about being a joyful martyr. You can see that post here: https://tinyurl.com/yxlvlttd

The cliff note version is this attitude about what God calls us to do matters. Having a grateful heart is so important even in the mundane. Since I have now touched (just baarely) on two parts of why I’m writing this post lets get to the how to.

So today was just one example of how I use my competitiveness to clean. We had amazing leftovers but they needed to be heated up separately so I had a few rounds of a couple of minutes on my hands. Well I also had a small sink of dishes so, lets beat the microwave. (don’t beat me up for nuking my leftovers)

It continues to stun me how a few minutes of cleaning here and there make a huge impact. I got that sink of dishes finished before the entree was heated in the microwave (barely, but I beat it!) While I was heating the sides I wiped down the counter. BOOM now I can sit, enjoy my lunch and have a cleaner kitchen WIN WIN! I could have swept or wiped out the fridge the options are endless.

There are so many ways to use this strategy to your advantage and I’d love to hear your thoughts so please leave me a note about it! I’ve used my competitive nature to lose weight, to push myself in workouts and a number of other ways. So if you’re competitive USE IT (for good not evil).

Until next time

All My Love,

Stephanie
